Heartwood House

Heartwood is a truly unique property, offering guests a mix of historical charm and contemporary comfort. The original 1850's "Tiersman's" dwelling with its sapling and shingle roof has recently been fully restored and extended. A large Conservatory links the old with the new, providing an amazing, light-filled space overlooking the pool and gardens.

This is the ideal retreat for a group of friends or large family (up to five couples), as Heartwood has been designed with 3 Bedrooms and several living zones, including a flexible home theatre/retreat with double sofa bed to accommodate another couple. In the garden, a separate self-contained Studio with a further double sofa bed provides an additional space. The house is set back from the road with lovely outlooks over the garden and valley beyond, making it a peaceful and tranquil spot for a relaxing holiday. Children and pets are most welcome, with bond.

Stirling is a wonderful spot to be based when visiting South Australia. It is only 20 minutes to the centre of Adelaide, yet it has retained a village atmosphere. Heartwood is a couple of km from the main street with its many shops, cafes and restaurants and award-winning hotel. Only metres down the road is the famous Sticky Rice Cooking School which offers sensational classes with renowned Australian chefs.

Our cottage is the ideal location for a group of friends to stay for a couple of nights to take in a class. There is a lovely park and playground in Stirling and further afield at Mt Lofty, the renowned Cleland Wildlife Park where visitors can interact with native animals. The Mt Lofty wine region is extensive with many Cellar doors now including restaurants for a perfect lazy lunch. Only one hour away is the McLaren Vale wine district, where the vines meet the sea on the Fleurieu Peninsula, or take a day trip north to the famous Barossa Valley. Otherwise, just laze in the conservatory or take a dip in the pool if all you need is a secluded, peaceful retreat.
