ART DECO COTTAGES at Tarraleah Estate

Tarraleahs Cottages were hand-built by Tasmanian craftsmen in the 1930s and have now been fully restored and furnished to retain their Art Deco Style. Each of the 15 cottages are self-contained featuring full kitchens, dining spaces, lounge rooms with fireplaces, washing facilities, sun-room and 2 bathrooms. The cottages have retained the period style and charm which made them a 1930s luxury and remain an icon style today.

The majority of the cottages have 3 bedrooms except for the 2 Superintendents cottages which have 4. The Architect cottages have valley views, whilst the Engineer cottages have a lovely town and garden outlook.

The cottages are ideal for couples, families, colleagues or groups of friends travelling together who are looking for space, a place to make your own meals and even a backyard for the kids to run around in.

Note:
1. We only take self-contained/self-catering bookings during May - October as the Highlander Arms is closed and there is no grocery store in Tarraleah. You will need to bring all of your own provisions or request a meal pack in advance.
2. Each of the cottages has a slightly different bedding configuration, andc the most basic configuration only has been listed. Some Engineers Cottages have 3 x queen beds, and some have 2 x queen size beds and 2 x single beds.... so if you need something specific, best to mention it on your booking request notes or click "message owner" on Aabode's page.

ARCHITECT COTTAGES
The 3 Architects Cottages were used in the 1930s and 40s to entice the best Hobart and Launceston architects and their families to Tarraleah during the Hydro Development boom. They have Nive Valley views, 3 large bedrooms, expansive self-contained kitchen areas, a sun-room, dining area, lounge room with a wood fire, 2 modern bathrooms and laundry facilities. These cottages can cater to 5 or 6 people on request and pending available bedding configurations.

ENGINEERS COTTAGES
The 6 Engineers Cottages housed Hydro engineers and their families in the 1930s and 40s. Today they've has been beautifully restored to their former glory, featuring original furniture pieces from the period. They feature a town and garden outlook, 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, verandahs, sunrooms, separate lounge areas with wood fires, large self-contained kitchens, and laundry facilities. These cottages can cater to 5 or 6 people on request and pending available bedding configurations.

SUPERINTENDENTS COTTAGES
The 2 Superintendents Cottages housed senior managers and their family in the 1930s and 40s and have been beautifully restored to their former glory, featuring original furniture pieces from the period. They are expansive with 4 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, verandahs, sun-rooms, separate lounge and dining areas with wood fires, large self-contained kitchens, and laundry facilities. Pending available bedding configuration, these cottages can cater to 7 or 8 people.

Tarraleah currently has Telstra and Vodafone signal. There is no WiFi at Tarraleah.

The rate displayed is based on 2 guests - there is an extra fee of $15.00 for the extra guest/child. Cots are availble for an additional flat fee of $10.00 per cot.
