John's House

John's House is one of two very special, very private holiday retreats on our rural property here in the heart of Hawke's Bay. Idyllically set in expansive park-like gardens and manicured lawns John's House feels miles from anywhere but is only a few minutes drive, cycle or walk from the charming village of Havelock North.

Nestled in the far corner of our property John's House is a captivating two bedroom, two bathroom sanctuary. The 'blue room' adjacent to the main house is 45m2 and can sleep up to 6 more. Perfect for one or two couples or a family looking for a very very different and special place to escape to.

Designed by renowned architect John Scott and built in 1990, this fantastic house was home for 20 years for my father John Pattison. He described this fantastic house as 'like living in a work of art'. Guests frequently comment on the peace and harmony they feel when staying.

The super king beds are super comfy with top quality linen to ensure a sublime sleep. The kitchen is fully equipped with heaps of useful items in the pantry. All the living spaces are inviting and comfortable with interesting furniture and decor and there are wonderful views from every window of the gorgeous lawns and garden and majestic trees.

Located at the end of a No Exit road John's House is a truly tranquil base that encourages you to unwind, recharge and be as active or laid back as you desire.

Havelock North - The Village - is a ten minute stroll along the Karamu Stream path bounding our place. Here you will find boutique shopping, great coffee, plenty of choice to dine casually or in style, plus supermarket, renowned wine store and a comfortable cinema.

Further afield, but no more than 20 minutes drive, are wineries and restaurants of worldwide acclaim, beaches, golf courses, fishing rivers, Cape Kidnappers, Te Mata Peak and Park, Napier City (Art Deco), Farmers Markets and the incredible 200+ kms of off road cycle trails.

In addition to our own house (with swimming pool which our guests are welcome to enjoy) we also have The Pavilion (see separate listing) on our property. Designed by Pete Bossley and built in 2013 this beaut wee one bedroom gem provides options for groups to book both houses for extended families and groups. A popular choice for weddings, anniversaries etc.

As your hosts we always respect your privacy. Equally we are happy to share our knowledge and provide any help required.

We are also negotiable on longer rental periods and 'off season' arrangements. Don't be shy in asking!
