Shady Brook Two Bedroom Alpine Cottage

This modern purpose built alpine cottage is self-contained superbly finished with a spa, all linen provided, full kitchen, separate laundry, ceiling fans, air conditioning, electric heating and to fully complete the comforts of the county a cozy wood fire. The cottage setting captures the aura of the high country with wide verandas, views of endless snow gum bush and an outside living area at the foot of surrounding hills. The deck is perfect for dining in nature with your own private barbeque and dining area.

Each bedroom has ceiling fans and there is air-conditioner in the lounge. There is a queen bed in one bedroom and two singles in the second room, to which a third bed can be added if required. The Cottage also has a double carport attached and large bathroom.

This cottage is ideal for families or couples wanting the secluded weekend. Its tucked into the base of the mountain with your own fern gully that intertwines into natural bush whilst in front, there are spacious lawns, landscaped gardens and tables to enjoy the fresh alpine air.

Bathe in the morning sun and in the afternoon capture the sunset on the ridges of Mt Feathertop disappearing slowly while enjoying a lazy beverage. Watch parrots as they feed nearby or listen to the multitude of bird including lyrebirds as they come down along the tracks in search of food. In the early morning or late evening wallabies maybe sighted while they gleam on green pickings around the base of the mountain.

During the day take a stroll over five acres of landscaped gardens, walk along the branch of the Ovens River and discover what this lush village has to offer. Take one of the private walking tracks on the mountain behind you that climbs to an amazing vista view of the village below or the snow-capped peaks. Or simply put your feet up, relax and enjoy.

It is an easy walk or ride to the village of Harrietville only 0.5km away so there is no need to get back into the car once you arrive just head out to discover. There are many walking tracks along the Ovens River, or longer trails located around the village that will take you into the Alpine National Parks. Trails to the Tronoh Dredge hole and surrounds will take you along the Ovens to amazing swimming and fishing holes. Or bike it along the Shared Trail to the Trout farm. There are walks and rides for all ages and fitness including those who wish to take of the challenge of Feathertop and beyond to Hotham Heights.
