Hamlet Downs Queen Suite

Hamlet Downs is set on 36 acres of gardens, ponds and fields next to the magnificent Mt Field National Park & SW Wilderness region. Great stopover to/from Strahan. Enjoy dinner using our own produce or self cater in your high quality private suite. The Queen suite has a microwave, toaster and kettle, but no kitchen.

This is our cosiest suite in the original section of the nearly 150 year old cottage. Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal served to your romantic suite. Contact us prior to arrival to let us know you would like dinner.
Hamlet Downs is just 15 minutes drive from Mount Field National Park and an hour's drive from Hobart, Tasmania. We are a great stopover between Hobart and Strahan.

Nestled on 36 acres of gardens, ponds and fields, the Queen suite offers its own entrance, bathroom, dining/lounge area and patio. It has a microwave oven, toaster, mini fridge, kettle and tea/coffee making facilities.
This Suite also has a sofa bed in the living area which could be made up at a small extra cost to accommodate an extra guest or perhaps 2 children. Also it allows 2 friends traveling together to sleep separately if they wish.
At extra cost, we have great breakfasts and dinners using our own or local seasonal produce including eggs, fruit, berries and vegetables as they become available.

Our beautiful property offers walks around the cottage and native gardens, orchards historic hop buildings and a track down to our ponds. Native fauna abounds and we are just minutes from the famous Russell Falls and the Tall Trees at the National Park. Nearby is the Styx Valley, The Maydena RailTrack Rider, Maydena Bike Park, the Salmon Ponds and the antique centre of Tasmania, New Norfolk. The Agrarian Kitchen Eatery is now open in New Norfolk

About 1 1/2 hours drive is the World Heritage Wilderness at Strathgordon. Only 45 minutes drive is the world renowned MONA (Museum of Old and New Art). As mentioned, 1 hour away is Hobart with amongst other attractions, the Salamanca Markets (Saturday) and Mount Wellington lookout.

We suggest you hire a vehicle as public transport is minimal. The closest shop/garage is 5 minutes away as is a nice cafe next to the river. The closest town with supermarket, banks etc is New Norfolk.

Relax and enjoy the 36 acres. There is a picnic hut next to the ponds. View the wildlife or have a cup of coffee and a delicious down at the Possum Shed caf just 5 minutes away.

Dinners may be ordered before 5.00pm thanks and served between 6.00pm and 7.30pm.
If you would like dinner let us know before you check-in.
We have pet dogs and a cat on the property.
There are alpacas in the back paddock.
